Tenn-Tex FAQs

Corner Protectors

Q: I noticed you have a T-430 corner protector for 90 degree cabinet corners. Do you have corner protectors for other applications?
A: We offer corner protectors for 22.5 degree, 45 degree and 135 degree corners. Consult our catalogue pages under "Corner Protectors"

Cover Caps

Q: I drilled my cathedral cabinet doors on the wrong side and would like to save the doors. Do you offer a cap to cover the hinge and dowel holes?
A: Use our T-782 cover cap, available in white, brown, beige and caramel, featured in the "Cover Cap" section on line. We also offer cover caps for 8mm and 10mm holes

False Front Clips

Q: I really like the action of the T-194 and T-195 false front clips. Where do I install the clip on the back of the false front?
A: Please consult the installation drawing on our website under "literature". The locations are as follows: bottom screw = bottom overlay PLUS 7.00mm (0.276") AND side overlay PLUS 18.50mm (0.728") screw center to center = 93.5mm (3.681")

Glass Door Retainers

Q: I lost my product layout sheet for the B-351 Glass Door Retainer Starter Kit.
A: Under LITERATURE, download the MS WOrd document with the same name.
Q: I work with constantly changing door rabbet depths or glass thicknesses. What do you recommend?
A: Use our new GLASS DOOR RETAINER CLIP STARTER KIT B-351. It contains 100 retainers and screws and 50 of each of the 8 different inserts, enough for approx. 15-25 doors. Re-order only the ones you you need in polybags of 50.
Q: Which glass door retainer insert do I need?
A: Please consult the chart on page 82 in the latest catalog.

INSET brackets for Undermount slides

Q: For Inset applications I have to block out the side panel to accomodate the undermount slide behind the face frame. Field Adjustments are nearly impossible. Is there an easier way?
A: We recommend our T-349 or T-350 series brackets which allow you to easily install the slide behind the face frame. Depth adjustment is quick with a turn of the screw driver. You will save a lot of time and frustration. Brackets are available in bulk or in convenient poly bags.
Q: My drawer slide is too long to fit onto the standard rear bracket that I also use for overlay designs. What can I do? I dont want to install a shorter slide.
A: You can use the specially designed C-280 adjustable rear bracket. It is available in screw-on or doweled versions. Please consult the C-280 flyer under NEW PRODUCTS.
Q: The Inset brackets are molded from a plastic polymer. Are they strong enough to hold fully loaded drawers in place?
A: We use a glass re-enforced polycarbonate polymer, known and tested for its superior strength. It will give you top performence for the life of the cabinet.
Q: What is the different between the T-349 and T-350 inset bracket?
A: The T-349 is a reversible version without a lower lip, ideal for cabinets with flush bottoms. The T-350 has side and bottom positioning lips that align the bracket in the corner of vertical face frame and stretcher rail. Both are fastened with supplied self-tapping washer head screws for superior strength.

Installations

Q: How do I install the T-194 and T-195 false front clip series?
A: The T-194 is installed flush against the side panel or the vertical rail, resting on the bottom stretcher rail. The T-195 screw locations on the back of the false front are: Bottom overlay plus 7mm (9/32") and Side overlay plus 18.5mm (23/32")
Q: I am building cabinets with inset doors. The doors over-close and I need a door stop.
A: We suggest you use our T-230-01 Retainer Clip which you can screw to the top rail.
Q: I am looking for a drawer slide spacer. What sizes do you carry?
A: Presently, we offer spacers in 1/4", 1/2", 23/32", 7/8", 15/16" and 1 3/32" thickness. Consult the "new product" section for recent additions.

QuikTRAY TM

Q: Can I buy hook dowels or machine screws separately?
A: Yes, your Distributor stocks all three types of hook dowels
Q: Can I cut the 20" long QuikTRAY pilasters?
A: Yes, but please make sure tht you have left and right sides with matching hole patterns.
Q: Can I use QuikTRAY in a sink base cabinet with plumbing in the back of the cabinet?
A: Yes, we recommend the T-531 short (4") pilaster. Consider building your roll-out tray to full width but shorter in depth determined by the actual plumbing in the back of the cabinet.
Q: I am using ball bearing full extension slides and found the thread length of the hook dowel screw to be too short.
A: Your most likely using the small holes (4mm dia., one each at the front and back). These holes are NOT made for flat head screws. PLEASE USE THE LARGER HOLES IN THE TABS DESIGNED FOR EURO SCREWS AND/OR FLAT HEAD SCREWS.
Q: I am using QuikTRAY Hook Dowels. Which way should they point?
A: Hook Dowels must be attached to the slide of your choice with the hook pointing up.
Q: I drill my side panels on a CNC (point-to-point) machine. Can I pre-drill for QuikTRAY?
A: Yes, QuikTRAY provides 4 hole locations 160mm on center. Fasten the Pilaster to the end panel with Euroscrews at least 11mm long. The Euroscrews should have a round head.
Q: I need a total of 1 1/2" of distance between slide and side panel. Your thickest QuikTRAY Pilaster is 1 1/4". What can I do?
A: Our T-507 hook dowel has a built-in spacer 1/4" thick. This will give you a total of 1 1/2" standoff. If more is needed, a wood spacer behind the Pilaster is the best solution. NEW...a 2" thick Pilaster will be available starting August 2005. Ask for item T-503
Q: I noticed on your T-502 QuikTRAY pilaster you have a .325 (5/16") standoff, but the T-501 has only a .250 (1/4") standoff. Why are these different?
A: 6 way CAM hinges recently introduced by the major concealed hinge manufacturers require more clearance and the T-502 accomodates these hinges
Q: I want to install QuikTRAY in a base cabinet with a fixed half shelf. What do I do?
A: Use the short (4") T-531 which will allow you to install a single roll-out on the bottom of the cabinet.
Q: I want to use a Blum Tandem Slide, do I need to use special hook dowels?
A: For best performence we recommend the use of the T-508 dowel at the front and if possible also at the back
Q: Is QuikTRAY available in longer lengths?
A: We offer 2 lengths, 4" and 20". In applications such as pantries, simply stack several pilasters on top of each other.
Q: What is the load rating of the QuikTRAY Pilaster system?
A: Tenn-Tex Plastics Inc. has tested most popular slides on the market with a 75 lbs load at 100,000 cycles. We recommend a maximum of 3 roll-outs per 20" long Pilaster, each with a maximum load of 75 lbs. In any case, pls observe the slide manufacturers published maximum load ratings.
Q: What Pilaster thicknesses are available?
A: We offer a 1", a 1 1/4" and a 2" thick version. Additionally, any pilaster thickness can be boosted by 1/4" by using the T-507 shouldered hook dowel.
Q: What type of epoxy coated side mount slide (european slide) works best with QuikTRAY?
A: We recommend a double captive type slide for best performence. You may also use a single captive slide, but need to make sure that side clearances between tray and pilaster are to slide manufacturers specs in order to avoid the non-captive side from coming out of its track.
Q: What type of slide can I use with QuikTRAY?
A: You can use any type of slide on the market. When using epoxy coated (european type) slides, please attach the front hook dowel at a maximum of 37mm from the front of the slide.

Roll-out Bumpers

Q: I noticed that the slide scratches the inside of the cabinet doors. What can I do to avoid that?
A: Use our roll-out bumpers T-160 and T-161 which are available in various colors.
Q: Standard roll-out bumpers do not work with concealed Undermount slides because of the minimal clearance between the drawer and the side panel or the face frame. Do you have an option for those slides?
A: We have recently added the C-247 series specifically designed for Undermount slides. Please see page 9 in our catalog or click on NEW PRODUCTS, then Roll-out bumpers.

Shelf Supports

Q: How do I determine the cut size (width) of my shelves?
A: Our catalogue, on page 94, lists recommended cut sizes. Simply look up your current part number and besides it you will find the cutting dimensions.
Q: I currently have a wide base cabinet with a sagging shelf that needs to be supported. What do you offer?
A: Use either of our shelf supports B-120 and B-121 or our T-662.
Q: We build institutional cabinetry. Which locking shelf support do you recomment?
A: We recommend the new T-803 heavy-duty shelf support. It features twin 5mm pin and lets you fasten the shelf support to the side panel and the shelf to the support, if needed. It is made from clear, super-strong polycarbonate and each shelf support provides for 300lbs of shear strength. It is available in bulk or in bags of 100.

Shipping Clips

Q: Do you have any products that helps keep doors closed during transportation to the job site?
A: We have a variety of drawer and door shipping clips designed to prevent doors and drawers from opening during transportation.
